Monthly Income Report – July 2017

A Better Month

How’s it going fellow readers? I did very well for myself in July personally and if you follow me on Instagram then you probably already know why!

For those who don’t you just have to wait and see. Don’t worry there aren’t any magical forces holding you back from scrolling down where I get straight to the point.

For all of you that are new to my blog, every month I write down how much and how I make money online.

It’s been a crazy 2 years now and I think it’s actually the anniversary of me getting started with affiliate marketing.

If you’re not sure what affiliate marketing is, just click here where I try to explain it in my own words.

Basically I heard about the concept, fell in love with the idea, read myself silly, succeeded and failed several times and now it seems like I’m on the right track.

As for the month, I finally started getting serious about a project I started in January but basically didn’t touch since. I’ve worked hard on it all month and it’s my little monster coming alive.

My corporate job has taken a serious beating at me and I’ve never hard to work so hard and much at my current job as in July.

I honestly don’t even know the last time I had a day off. It’s really draining me but the results of July were so amazing it kind of makes me happy to think I have something going on that will free me from corporate slavery!

Although it takes a lot of extra will power and strength, it’s not impossible. One thing I’ve been slacking in is my diet and being active though.

Sometimes it get’s hard to balance everything at once.

Comparing Statistics

This monthly income report, I thought I’d change it up a bit and share my statistics and growth of my little monster.

I feel like my blog has very little to almost no impact or changes over the last few months so I might as well share how I grow my other site.

As I mentioned in the introduction, I did start this site back in January. However I barely touched it.

I didn’t have the time, money or energy to focus on it. So when I bought it, I just bought a domain and set up the website the way I like it to look.

Every now and then when I’d have some spare change I’d invest in a writer here and there and add some content on it. In July however I wen’t in and ordered quite a bit.

monster growth in months July 2017

So looking at the graph you can see how almost nothing happened in the first 5 months and suddenly things start moving.

It’s almost exactly the same time my partner and I decided to get rid of our site and split the profits.

The site took huge amounts of time and a lot of debating between us and now that’s gone I can focus on this puppy.

As I’ve been adding content very slowly and irregularly, it slowly starts to rank and get indexed hence the rise in traffic.

traffic stats for monster July

I know that 1,028 sessions in 7 month’s is nothing to brag about, but it’s still such a great feeling to see things happening.

I can assure you that in the beginning it is the most frustrating thing to put so much work and effort into a project and seeing no change.

Finally I’ve learned to be patient and let things take their own pace.

However the more you work on it the greater the result. I’ve also learned a lot of things to avoid and things to include from the previous site so this will be a giant success.

The bounce rate is pretty much where I want it to be but I’ll try to get it lower. Most articles posted so far are around 4,500 words with well researched information. So readers should be interested to stick to the script I hope!

traffic breakthrough lil monster

The reason I’m adding so many words to my reviews, is because with my last site, the traffic suddenly dropped significantly after Googles latest update (known as ‘Fred’) has hit it.

After going through the content and all of the highest ranked ones which suddenly dropped, it was evident that they were actually quite small in terms of content and valuable information.

That is why I decided that the new site should be very well researched, packed with information and content. Hopefully that will prevent future disasters.

My main goal with this little monster (decided I’ll give it that name) will be to finally earn $10,000 per month. It’s always been a dream of mine to make that sum monthly since I’ve seen super affiliates make that.

From there I want to scale it possibly and go to something even more ridiculous and unimaginable, before I sell it off.

July Thoughts

Alright so in July a lot of my time went into selling off my site. It obviously paid off handsomely and I don’t think I ever got that much money in one go.

To sell it I used a type of auction service for websites called because I heard many good things about them.

The whole thing was a bit messy at first and emails started flooding in while I was on holiday.

However, there are so many people involved in this process that it made it feel really safe and also it was pretty quick how fast the site was sold. I think within the first two days we got our first offer.

Negotiation was a bit long and then I received another offer and instant skype chat between the interested party and EF which also gave me a little bit of advice how to handle the situation.

A day later the offer was proposed and I agreed.

The migration itself was also a ton quicker than when I tried to sell my other site alone. Within a day everything was pretty much done.

I’m still talking to the person who bought the site to give him some tips and insights, how to build it back up and run it.

earnings from website sale

As you can see above, we earned $34,000 but technically we sold the site for $40,000. Empire flippers obviously got a cut which was 15%.

At first it stung a little but then again, the service was so good and never would we have found a buyer that quick without them.

After my partner and I had to split the earnings and we decided to split them according to the amount of work that was done.

With a few more hidden costs from those darn banks, the split ended up being $15,106.70 for him and $18,553.40 for me!

Pretty awesome right!

Ok so now it’s time to get to the objectives I set myself the previous month. I always forget what exactly it was that I wanted to achieve because I’m a little bit ADD or ADHD (not sure what the difference is) and get distracted by anything.

But in case you’re too lazy to go back to the last month, simply click here and you can see them or look below:

  • Add 5 more articles to old site -> not sure but I’m pretty sure that was achieved
  • Buy 2 more shares of certain company -> partly achieved. I only bought one
  • Use sales earnings for site boost -> already spent about $2k on the site!
  • Find 2 new writers -> found an amazing service with endless writers!
  • Read at least 1 book -> finally finished a book and started a new one!
  • Make a comeback to the gym -> partly joined again 🙂

Actually I’m quite surprised how well I did there. Time to raise the bar now! Go me!

Ok enough chit chat, let’s look at the numbers shall we? I know we’re all here for that anyway.

WA meaning

wa earnings july 2017

My costs as usual remain:

I will not include the costs of the little monster site for now for a few reasons:

  1. I don’t knw exactly how much it is and it takes a bit of digging through to find all the figures.
  2. I want to include the total cost once I sell it off and then I have the exact figure of earnings (which is good to know for myself as well)
  3. My monthly reports would look depressing next month if I did include them

Anywhoo to sum it all up, this is the amount I managed to generate in July!!

Total Earnings Of June 2017 – $18,769.60!

Not to bad right?

Believe it or not but I’m not satisfied. No it’s not because I’m greedy and don’t know how to value things, it’s because I know it will be a while before I reach that amount again within a months time.

However I’m still ecstatic about the sum and I can finally finance my new project and be on my own terms.

No more split profits and no more arguing between two friends. I hated that part because friendships mean a lot to me especially when it’s between friends I’ve known half my life.

Motivation is higher than humanly possible now though so nothing can stop me anymore!

Objectives For August

I know August will be a tough month and I will treat myself a little after such tough working hours.

It’s my mothers birthday as well as mine so I will probably spend a lot more money than I like to. But that’s ok because sometimes you need to treat yourself and the ones you love.

However that’s no excuse to be lazy. I’m going to start bringing in my laptop to work so I can work on my project whilst at work (when it’s a bit more quiet).

Usually the night shifts give me a few minutes to go through some things and especially the really tough night shifts have a lot of waiting involved.

As for objectives, these are the ones:

  • Feed the little monster 20 new posts
  • Create 2 infographics for the site
  • Hit 50 sessions a day with the site
  • Make the first $50 month with site
  • Read at least 1 book
  • Keep up the gym
  • Empty the house (donate clothes and items)
  • Relax a little!

As I barely had a single day off within the last 5-6 weeks, I want to use my days off wisely. Firstly I want to see my Dad who’s back in town, but at the same time I want to get as much work done as possible.

I need to iron a ton of clothes (which is fine and I can do in the evening) but I also need to bang out as much work as possible to get all these new posts ready.

Basically I need to do a bit of keyword research for my writers and then provide them with the material to write about.

It takes about 10-15 minutes total, but it’s also a bit tedious. However if I do this for an entire day I’m sure I can have tons of material for the site.

After it also takes a bit of time to go through the posts, make sure they’re good enough to accept etc. edit them and all…

So I could easily need a few days to get this sorted.

Finally I need to do research and outreach for all my stuff as well but I can’t forget to relax a little either. We don’t want to have a burnout after all do we.

I hope you enjoyed this post and please remember that you can easily achieve this amount of money in much less time than me.

I spent 2 years messing about like an idiot trying to find the right path. You can go through all my income reports and learn how I got there.

It all started with this course, which I signed up almost exactly 2 years ago for free!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Essy,
It sounded like reading without head and tail.
I’m a regular reader to your blog. Since you use ‘side project’, ‘little monster’ etc. It gets hard to understand what is what 🙂
    Tell us more about it.
So did you sell your old existing affiliate site and started building a new one?

    • Hi Steve,

Haha I’m sorry if it’s getting confusing. I guess I was excited and maybe it was clear in my head but not for readers lol!
So basically before I had a main side project, which I sold off now. That’s where I generated most of my income in this month. Now I’m re-creating that side project on my own, so in order to make it LESS confusing, I wanted to give it a name (hence the little monster).
I’m considering to make a giant post once I’m done with the monster and teach my readers how to recreate it. However I want to make sure that I’ve got the formula down and it can be repeated easily.
And yea so to answer your question, the old affiliate site which was always referred to as a side project has been sold. I was running it with a partner and we sort of split the profits (I got a bigger share for having done more work on it) and yes I started a new one in January but only working on it properly now!

Hope that clears it up 🙂

      • haha! That was better!
You should also write about how to find a partner for your digital success, or something of that sort 🙂

        • Glad it was a bit more clear now 😀
As for the partner, I don’t think I want to write about the partnership that I had for that particular website. Basically we were disagreeing on a lot of stuff. And although in the beginning it was great because we divided the workload, technically I could have done everything on my own and have 100% of the profit rather than splitting it.
The only reason the site was sold is because we ended up disagreeing on almost every point and my partner was loaded with work from his 9-5 job, which prohibited him from putting any work into the site.
So I ended up doing most of it near the end and hence we split up.
Therefore I think it’s better to do everything on your own. IF you mess up, you can only blame yourself… And if you succeed you can keep all of the benefits!
