Being A Creator Is The Easy Bit
Creating a website these days is probably the easiest bit in creating an online business. If you don’t believe me, feel free to read one of my older posts, on how to create a website within 30 seconds. Now that you know how to do that, all you need to know is how to monetize it.
Of course there are hundreds of ways to that as well and I’ve gone into some detail with a few different approaches you might want to take, but for those of you who really want to know what the hard bit is in making money from a website, it’s simply to know the ins and outs that people don’t share with you.
For instance, I personally believe that most people give up because they don’t generate enough traffic on their site. It can be frustrating to say the least and with no traffic there will be no sales.
Another major obstacle, is being productive and keeping a schedule for producing content. If you want to produce every week, make sure something comes out every week.
Finally, whatever you are creating and posting, needs to be readable and useful for your readers. If you can’t keep them on your website and can’t keep them entertained there’s not much use in having them there in the first place. Even if you had 5000 people on your site every day, it is very unlikely for them to actually buy something off your site if you can’t provide them with anything they are looking for.
Keeping Your Readers
So how do you get to keep your readers interested and looking around your website?
It is always good to have a mailing list. As you can see I have recently added one on my website and to be honest I am still learning how to use it. Needless to say here are some of the benefits of having one and why it is such a valuable asset to have:
- It is incredibly easy to sign up to a free email marketing provider
- People that are interested will sign up and you have a definite number of readers to send back on your site
- You can contact people directly and update them with news off your site
- Everyone has an email (at least most people that have been on the internet before)
- It’s for free (there are also more advanced products you can pay for but you don’t have to, especially as a startup)
- You can connect to your readers on a more personal level
If you want more information, you can go and see mail chimp for example and what they have to offer. They are very user friendly and free with upgrading perks. I’m currently using them and from what I’ve seen it was very straight forward and easy to use.
SEO Is Back
I can never mention SEO enough when it comes to making money through your website. I’ve previously mentioned the importance of it and that anyone creating a website needs to be on top of their game.
There are plenty of ways to optimize your SEO and to be honest the more you do it the easier it becomes, but as the internet is constantly evolving, you should always find out how to improve.
If you want traffic to come your way this is a very crucial step for your business. Don’t overlook it because it will be a painful lesson to deal with.
Keep Moving Forward
Once you learn a few essentials such as how to use keywords properly and how to efficiently use SEO, you will become very comfortable in creating articles and content on your website.
It is a good idea to track your progress as early on as possible, because the more data you have the better. I for instance have been using the plugin StatpressV pretty early on and eventually got round to using Google Analytics.
It helps to identify what is working and what isn’t and a lot more information I won’t be going into right now.
Additionally you want to experiment a little and see what works out on your site. Try creating and adding a logo on your site for a better look for example. Or as I previously mentioned, ad a mailing list.
Maybe try out a different theme. Eventually after a few months pass and you have a more steady traffic flow, see which articles tend to get more attention compared to others. Try creating similar ones to generate more traffic.
All the small things play a role and you need to analyze your website daily. Having said that, don’t drive yourself insane in the first few months. Data can only mean something after a few months of information has been recorded.
The last tip I want to give you on how you could easily be making money from a website, is to not overcomplicate things. On Wealthy Affiliate I like to help out people.
We give each other a hand when we need it and due to the easy to use chat room, you can see when people are asking for help quite instantly. One of the most frequent questions I get to see is “what theme should I use for my website”.
I always give them the same answer. It doesn’t really matter. The simpler your theme looks, the easier it is probably going to be for you to handle it. Additionally, you don’t want your readers to be admiring what your site looks like, you want them to be interested in what your site has to offer.
If you have an extremely fancy website that has videos, gifs and thousands of colors moving around, no one will actually go on to read any of the helpful stuff you might have to offer, let alone buy any of the products you are promoting.
Therefore I always tell people to keep it simple. Some of you might disagree, but if you look at some of the really successful people online, that have been making a full time income through their websites, tend to have the most boring looking sites.
They have easy to navigate sites and they mostly look like blogs. Readers come and see what the most recent posts are and look for information they expect to see straight away.
Having a complicated website is like trying to make money online without a website. It’s pretty impossible.
So now that you know that it isn’t hard to be making money, your website can be optimized and built to produce a lot of sales! If you would like to know more about making money online and where I’ve learned most of my skills from, I highly encourage you to read my review for my top rated program.
There are many scams out there and I truly wish that no one falls into these traps.
Don’t expect to make money in a week or two either. It takes a lot of patience and even more commitment. But if you do put your head behind it, you can easily earn a nice income and live a nice life working from anywhere in the world at any time.
I hope these small tips helped you out a little and if you have any doubts, questions or thoughts, feel free to contact me personally or just leave behind a small comment. I’m always happy to hear what you have to say and I will answer every question as soon as I can.
